Ontario reports 1,476 new cases of COVID-19, eight additional deaths


Ontario is reporting 1,476 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and eight additional deaths over a 24-hour period.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 612 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that 93 other cases were identified in individuals with an unknown vaccination.

She also added that 222 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, and 158 are being treated in Intensive Care Unit.

However, she said all hospitals do not report the COVID-19 related hospitalizations on weekends.

Meanwhile, Elliott, said 24,449,726 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario till date. 90.3% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 87.6% others have received two doses.

The Ontario on Saturday reported 1,607 COVID-19 cases and five additional deaths.
