Ontario reports 4,383 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday

The Ontario Health on Wednesday announced that the health authorities have identified 4,383 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours.

Ten additional deaths due to COVID-19 were also reported to Ontario Health over a 24-hour period.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 918 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that 222 cases were identified in individuals who have an unknown vaccination status.

She also added that 420 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. 311 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 109 are fully vaccinated.

Currently, 168 people are in ICU due to COVID-19. 132 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 36 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 25,860,049 vaccine doses have been administered, with over 230,000 doses administered yesterday, Elliott said, adding that 90.5% of Ontarians 12+ have received one dose & 87.9% have two doses.

The Ontario Health on Tuesday reported 3,453 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period and ten additional deaths due to the virus.
