Ontario reports 486 new COVID-19 cases and 5 additional deaths


The Ontario Health reported 486 new case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 5 additional deaths on Saturday.

Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health, said 329 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination.

Elliott further added that the remaining 157 cases were identified in fully vaccinated individuals.

She also added that 242 people are in hospital due to COVID-19, including 211 people are who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.

164 people are in Intensive Care Unit with 146 of them not fully vaccinated or having an unknown vaccination status.

In Ontario, 22,208,199 vaccine doses have been administered, Elliott said, adding that nearly 87.4% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and nearly 83.0% have two doses.

The Ontario Health on Friday reported 496 new cases and 2 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
