Ontario reports 588 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday

The Ontario Health on Friday announced that 588 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) were identified in the last 24 hours.

Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health, said 376 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that the remaining 222 cases were identified in fully vaccinated individuals.

Meanwhile, Elliott, said 207 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 158 people who are not fully vaccinated.

She also added that 130 people are in Intensive Care Unit due to the virus, including 121 individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

According to Elliott, 22,681,696 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario so far. 88.6% of Ontarians 12+ have received one dose and 85.3% have received two doses.

The Ontario Health also reported 5 additional deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.
