The Ontario Health on Wednesday reported 593 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 5 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.
Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health, said 447 of the new cases have been identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status.
Elliott further added that the remaining 146 cases have been identified in fully vaccinated individuals.
She also added that 346 people are hospitalized with COVID019, including 311 individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
Furthermore, Elliott said 188 people are in ICU due to COVID-19, including 178 people who are not fully vaccinated or having an unknown vaccination status.
Meanwhile, Elliott said starting September 22, individuals will be required to provide proof of vaccination to access certain businesses and settings.
