Ontario reports 9,571 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday

The Ontario Health on Friday announced that the health authorities have identified 9,571 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 1,892 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that 254 cases were identified in individuals who have an unknown vaccination status.

She also added that 508 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. 355 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 153 are fully vaccinated.

Currently, 164 people are in ICU due to COVID-19. 136 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 28 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 26,343,050 vaccine doses have been administered, with over 229,000 doses administered yesterday.

90.6% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 88.0% have two doses

The Ontario Health on Thursday reported 5,790 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period and seven additional deaths due to the virus.
