Ontario reports over 1,000 new COVID-19 cases, 8 additional deaths on Wednesday

Ontario is reporting over 1,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and eight additional deaths over a 24-hour period.

“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.3% of Ontario’s total population & amount to 443 of Ontario’s 1,009 new reported cases,” Christine Elliott, Ontario’s Minister of Health tweeted.

Elliott further added that 64 cases are in individuals with an unknown vaccination status.

333 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, Elliott said, adding that 258 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 75 are fully vaccinated.

She also added that 155 people are in ICU due to COVID-19, including131 who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 24 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 24,150,789 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. 90.1% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 87.4% have received two doses.
