Ontario reports over 3,100 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period

Ontario is reporting over 1,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

The Ontario Health also reported five additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 874 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that 130 cases were identified in individuals whonhave an unknown vaccination status.

“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.0% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 874 of Ontario’s 3,124 new reported cases. 130 cases are in individuals with an unknown vaccination status,” Elliott tweeted.

She also added that 358 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. 273 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 85 are fully vaccinated.

157 people are in ICU due to COVID-19, Elliott said, adding that 124 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 33 are fully vaccinated.

In Ontario, 25,006,030 vaccine doses have been administered. 90.4% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 87.7% have two doses.
