Ontario reports over 500 COVID-19 cases, 12 additional deaths


Ontario is reporting 512 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and 12 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.

Provincial Health Minister, Christine Elliott, said the health authorities identified 512 new cases in the last 24 hours, including 310 cases in unvaccinated individuals, or those who have an unknown vaccination status.

She also added that 274 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Ontario.

According to Elliott, 206 non-ICU patients are partially vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, and 68 are fully vaccinated.

Elliott further added that the remaining 202 cases were identified in fully vaccinated individuals.

Furthermore, Elliott, said 133 people are in Intensive Care Unit due to COVID-19, including 114 people who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, and 19 fully vaccinated individuals.

In Ontario, 22,748,337 vaccine doses have been administered. 88.8% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and nearly 85.7% have two doses.
