Ontario reports over 8,800 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday


Ontario is reporting 8,800 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

Provincial Health Minister Christine Elliott said the health authorities identified 8,825 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Elliott further added that 491 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Ontario.

She also added that 187 people are being in Intensive Care Unit for COVID-19.

“The seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 related patients in ICU is 171,” Elliott said in a statement posted online.

In Ontario, 26,639,237 vaccine doses have been administered, with over 144,000 doses administered yesterday.

Elliott also added that 90.7% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 88.0% have two doses.

The Ontario Health on Monday reported that 9,418 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24-hour period.
