Ontario reports over 9,400 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday


The Ontario Health on Monday announced that the health authorities have identified over 9,400 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said Ontario is reporting 9,418 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24 hour period.

Elliott further added that 480 people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Ontario, including 176 individuals who are being treated in Intensive Care.

She also added that the seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 related patients in ICU is 168.

However, she said the hospitalization numbers are not final as not all hospitals report on weekends.

Meanwhile, Elliott, said 26,494,532 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario, with over 45,000 doses administered on Boxing Day. 90.7% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and 88.0% have two doses.

The Ontario Health on Sunday reported 9,826 new cases of COVID-19 over a 24 hour period. On Saturday, the Ontario Health reported 10,412 new cases of COVID-19.
