Ontario reports slight decrease in new COVID-19 cases and deaths


Ontario on Sunday reported 256 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID19), a day after reporting 346 cases.

Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said the Ontario Health identified 66 of the new cases in the Region of Waterloo, 42 in Toronto, 38 in Grey Bruce, 26 in Peel Region and 16 in the Porcupine Health Unit region.

Elliott further added the Ontario Health administered 14,027,141 doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of 8:00 p.m. yesterday, including 202,672 doses administered on Saturday.

She also added Ontario is preparing to move to Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen on June 30th.

Meanwhile, the Ontario reported 12 additional deaths in the past 24 hours. Ontario reported 13 deaths over a period of 24 hours on Saturday.
