The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Ontario on Tuesday released the identity of a man who was fatally shot by police in London late last month.
“In accordance with the Special Investigations Unit’s name release policy which requires consent from next of kin, the Unit is now able to identify 29-year-old Justin Bourossa of Sarnia, who died on October 28, 2021, in London,” SIU said in a statement.
The statement further added that Bourossa died in hospital after an officer discharged his firearm at him, following an interaction.
At this time, one subject official and 14 witness officials been designated, the statement said, adding that the post-mortem took place on October 29, 2021.
The SIU also added it is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
he SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials (police officers as well as special constables with the Niagara Parks Commission and peace officers with the Legislative Protective Service) that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
