Prominent Taliban leader among dozens killed in Kabul hospital attack


A prominent Taliban leader was among dozens killed in a coordinated attack which targeted a hospital in Kabul city on Tuesday.

Sources have confirmed that Mawlavi Ahmad Mukhlis was killed in the attack in 400-bed military hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

He was one of the first Taliban leaders who published a video from ARG Presidential Palace following the takeover of Kabul.

Meanwhile, the sources said at least 50 people were killed and over 50 others were injured in the attack.

The assailants launched the attack after detonating explosives close to the hospital, allowing the other militants to enter the hospital building and engage in gun battle with the Taliban fighters.

According to reports, the majority of those killed or wounded in the attack, are ordinary civilians.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group blamed ISIS group for the attack and said 7 people, including 3 women, a child, and 3 Taliban fighters were killed in the attack and 5 others were injured.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
