Quebec reports 14,188 new cases of COVID-19 and 9 additional deaths


Quebec is reporting 14,188 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) over a 24-hour period.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services of Quebec said nine additional deaths were also reported due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Currently, 939 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Quebec. There has been an increase of 135 in overall hospitalizations as compared to the previous day.

A total of 229 people were admitted to hospitals in Quebec in the last 24 hours, while 94 others were discharged.

The Ministry of Health and Social Services also added that 138 people are being treated in Intensive Care Unit for COVID-19, a number which has increased by 16 as compared to Wednesday.

The ministry also added that 95,538 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered, including 88,651 in the last 24 hours and 6,887 before December 29, for a total of 14,995,780 doses administered in Quebec.

Outside Quebec, a total of 249,360 doses were administered, for a cumulative total of 15,245,140 doses received by Quebecers.
