Quebec is reporting close to 1,200 new cases of COVID-19 and two additional deaths due to the virus over a 24-hour period.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services of Quebec said the health authorities identified 1,189 new cases in the past 24 hours.
The ministry in a statement said two additional deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 11,589 since the beginning of pandemic.
The statement further added that 226 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19 in Quebec, an increase of seven as compared to the previous day.
Currently, 62 people are in Intensive Care Unit, receiving treatment for COVID-19, the ministry said, adding that six individuals were admitted to ICU in the past 24 hours while three others were discharged.
The ministry also added that 20,515 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered, including 19,746 in the last 24 hours and 769 before December 5, for a total of 13,776,224 doses administered in Quebec.
