RCMP investigating shooting, stabbing at Halloween gathering in Nova Scotia


The Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced Sunday it is investigating multiple incidents, including shooting, home invasion and stabbing at a gathering in Nova Scotia.

“Today at approximately 3:11 a.m., the RCMP responded to a call of a shooting on Veterans Dr. in Pictou. Preliminary investigation indicates a 22-year-old New Glasgow man shot at a woman outside a home where there was a Halloween gathering. The woman was not injured and ran inside, locking the door. The suspect smashed a door window gaining access to the home and stabbed a person inside before being tackled by people at the gathering. The suspect incurred serious injuries. He was located by police in hospital where he remains being treated,” the PictureMate RCMP said in a statement.

The statement further added that the stabbing victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, was treated by EHS, and released.

Accordung to RCMP this was not a random incident and there is no further threat to the public. It is believed the parties are known to one another.

Police have a heavy presence in the community as they continue the investigation.
