Saskatchewan reports 470 COVID-19 cases, 5 additional deaths in the last 24 hours


Saskatchewan is reporting 470 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 5 additional deaths over a 24-hour period.

The Government of Saskatchewan in a statement said “As of October 1, there are 470 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 67,810 reported cases.”

The statement further added that the health authorities identified 18 new cases in Far North West, 1 case in Far North Central, 11 in Far North East, 44 in North West, 48 in North Central, 17 in North East, 85 in Saskatoon, 12 in Central West, 32 in Central East, 83 in Regina, 23 in South West, 33 in South Central, and 37 in South East zones.

4,770 cases are considered active and 62,340 cases are considered recovered, the statement said, adding that 313 individuals are hospitalized, including 245 inpatient hospitalizations, and 68 ICU hospitalizations.

The Saskatchewan Government also added that 5 new deaths were reported today. 700 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died with a case fatality rate of 1.0%.
