The Alberta Health on Tuesday reported 238 new cases of the novel coronavirus and six additional deaths due to the virus over a 24-hour period.
Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Health of Alberta, said the Alberta Health identified 238 new cases by completing around 5,400 tests in the last 24 hours.
According to Dr. Hinshaw, 434 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital in Alberta.
She also added that 81 people are in Intensive Care Unit due to COVID-19. “Sadly, I must announce that 6 new deaths have been reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours.”
Dr. Hinshaw also confirmed that the Alberta Health has identified the first case of Omicron variant of COVID-19.
The Alberta Health identified the case in an individual who who had recently travelled to Nigeria and Netherlands.
