Taliban shows off military gear abandoned by US during military parade in South of Afghanistan

The Taliban group showed off military gear abandoned by the US military during a military parade which the group held in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

A video of the parade, published by AFP, purportedly shows the group showing off armored personnel carriers, including M1224 MaxxPro MRAP and Humvee vehicles during the parade.

The video also shows the group is flying rotary wing planes, including UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and Mi-17 Russian transport helicopters.

The group reportedly held the parade to inaugurate the ‘Islamic Emirate Army’.

Mohamamd Yaqoob Mujahid, the acting defense minister of Taliban, had earlier, said efforts are underway for the establishment of a national army that could defend the territorial integrity and airspace of Afghanistan.

In a voice message published last month, Mujahid said the group intends to equip the new national army with sophisticated weapon.

Furthermore, Mujahid assured the regional countries and international community that the Afghan soil would not be used against any other country.

Mujahid did not elaborate further on how the group would establish the new army and who would fund it.

However, some Taliban sources have said the group intends to recruit the former military officers in a bid to establish the new national army.
