Taxicab driver injured in 8th weekend shooting in Toronto city


A taxicab driver was seriously injured in a shooting which took place in Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East tonight.

The Toronto Police said the cab driver crashed into a fence after being shot. He was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries.

This was the 8th consecutive shooting which took place over the weekend in Toronto city.

Earlier, a man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds which he sustained in a shooting at Parliament Street and Wellesley Street East.

The officers located a man with serious gunshot injuries between Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue around 7:44 am on Sunday.

A teenager male sustained injuries in a drive-by shooting which took place at 3 a.m. on Sunday at Highway 427 and Eglinton Avenue West.

Later, a woman made her way to the hospital, suffering gunshot wounds sometimes before 5 a.m., the Toronto Police said, adding that the woman was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Earlier on Saturday, police responded to a call at 2845 Jane Street and located a man who had been shot.

Life-saving measures were commenced but the the man was pronounced deceased at the scene, the Toronto Police said, adding that the victim has been identified as Kamal Daley, 28, of Toronto.

The officers also responded to a call for a shooting at 2591 Eglinton Avenue West at 2:20 a.m., on Saturday, October 23, 2021, and located Donald Leroy “Smokey” Marson, 36, of Toronto, in an apartment unit who had been shot.

The Toronto Police said the officers commenced life-saving measures but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The officers also located another man in his 20s who was fatally shot in a parking lot in North York on Saturday afternoon.
