The Toronto police have arrested a man who allegedly poisoned the cereal and killed a 3-year-old child.
“On Sunday, March 7, 2021, police and the Ontario Coroner’s Office commenced an investigation into the death of three-year-old child,” the Toronto Police said in a statement.
The statement further added that the man allegedly accessed a controlled substance from his place of employment and placed it into a children’s breakfast cereal.
Two children consumed the breakfast cereal, during a sleep over, both children required hospitalization, the Toronto Police said, adding that one of the children due to the consumption of the cereal, died in hospital and the other child recovered after a lengthy hospital stay.
The Toronto Police also added that on Saturday, June 19, 2021, Francis Ngugi, 45, of Toronto, was arrested and was charged with two counts of Administer Noxious Substance to Endanger Life, two counts of Unlawfully Cause Bodily Harm, and Criminal Negligence Causing Death.
