Toronto Police officer charged with impaired driving


A senior officer of the Toronto Police Service was charged with impaired driving following a collision in Pickering.

The Toronto Police in a statement said the incident occurred on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at approximately 7 p.m., as the officer was travelling eastbound on Highway 401 through the city of Pickering.

The statement further added that Superintendent Riyaz Hussein, 54, was charged by the Ontario Provincial Police with over 80 mgs Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Careless Driving, and having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Liquor.

The Toronto Police also added that Superintendent Hussein is scheduled to appear in court on February 10, 2022, at 11:30 a.m., at 150 Bond Street, Oshawa, in 108 Court.

Superintendent Hussein has 33 years of service and was assigned to the Disciplinary Hearings Office. He has been Suspended With Pay.
