Toronto Police seeking man who deliberately set a fire at a restaurant, leaving one dead


The Toronto Police is seeking a man who deliberately set fire at a restaurant, leaving one dead. 

“On Saturday, July 10, 2021, at approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to a working fire at the Slam Restaurant located at 3685 Keele Street,” the Toronto Police said in a statement. 

The statement further added that the police arrived on scene and located a man who had obvious injuries as a result of the fire. 

Life-saving measures were performed but The man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital, the Toronto Police said.  

The victim has been identified as Shahriyar Safarian, 18, of Richmond Hill.

The Toronto Police also added that on Monday, July 26, 2021, the Toronto Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

A warrant has been issued for Arian Ghasemmanesh, 19, of no fixed address, the Toronto Police said, adding tat the man is wanted for manslaughter and Arson-Disregard for Human Life.
