The authorities in Vulcan County have confirmed that the Canadian Pacific Railway service is expected to resume later today.
“CP Rail service is expected to resume around 5:00 p.m. CP will be flaring the impacted rail cars today. Affected rail crossings are still closed, please stay clear of the area,” the Vulcan County said in a statement.
The train derailed Northwest of Ensign earlier today, impacting 39 cars that were carrying residual amounts of Anhydrous Ammonia or Liquid Petroleum.
Meanwhile, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, said an investigation will be launched into the incident soon.
“The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has deployed a team of investigators following a derailment involving a Canadian Pacific train near Ensign, Alberta,” the Transportation Safety Board said in a statement.
The statement further added that TSB will gather information and assess the occurrence.
