The Transport Canada announced Thursday it could issue fines of up to $5,000 per offence to passengers on Sunwing party plane.
“Transport Canada is conducting an investigation into the December 30 Sunwing flight from Montréal to Cancun, Mexico,” the Transport Canada said in a statement.
The statement further added that Transport Canada is working close with its partners, Health Canada and Canada Border Services Agency.
“If it is determined that non-compliance with any regulations has occurred, we could issue fines of up to $5,000 per offence to passengers,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the Transport Canada, said it will take the time necessary to conduct a thorough and complete investigation.
Images from December 30 flight recently went viral, showing several passengers, including Quebec influencers and reality show stars, ignoring public health measures while partying inside the plane.
The passengers were also shown dancing, vaping, and passing a bottle of alcohol. The 111 Private Club had privately chartered the plane for an inclusive event in Cancun.
