The Ontario Health on Saturday reported 854 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and two deaths due to the virus over a 24-hour period.
Christine Elliott, the Minister of Health of Ontario, said 474 of the new cases were identified in individuals who are not fully vaccinated.
“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 23.7% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 474 of Ontario’s 854 new reported cases,” Elliott said.
She also added that 31 of the new cases were identified in individuals with an unknown vaccination status.
Meanwhile, Elliott, said 254 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. 206 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 48 are fully vaccinated.
134 people are in ICU due to COVID-19, including 123 who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 11 fully vaccinated individuals.
In Ontario, 22,895,217 vaccine doses have been administered. Nearly 89.4% of Ontarians 12+ have one dose and nearly 86.3% have two doses.
