Two injured in an explosion in the Afghan capital Kabul city

A spokesperson for the interior minister, Syed Khosti, confirmed the incident, and said the explosion injured two security personnel.

Khosti further added that the incident took place in Deh Mazang area of the city around 7:30 am local time.

He also added that unknown gunmen hurled a hand grenade at security personnel from Kabul zoo.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Khurasan terror group, an offshoot of ISIS in Afghanistan, recently claimed a series of deadly attacks in the Afghan capital, and other parts of the country, which left dozens dead or wounded.

The claimed a deadly attack on a mosque in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan last week, almost seven days after claiming a similar attack on a Shi’ite mosque in northern part of the country.

The latest attack, in southern Kandahar city, left over 40 people dead, mostly Shi’ite prayers.

A week earlier, a suicide bomber detonated his explosives inside a Shi’ite mosque in Kunduz city, leaving at least 50 people dead and over 150 others wounded.
