Vancouver Police investigating fatal collision that left a man in his 30s dead

The Vancouver Police is investigating a fatal collision that left a man in his 30s dead near Jericho Beach late on Sunday night.

According to a statement released by Vancouver Police, the officers responded to multiple 911 calls of a man driving erratically westbound along West 4th Avenue on October 10.

At around 9 p.m., the driver collided into a tree near NW Marine Drive and West 4th Avenue. The man died on scene after attempts to revive him by Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and BC Ambulance Service were unsuccessful.

Constable Tania Visintin of Vancouver Police said “Speed was definitely a factor in this tragic incident. “Our Collision Investigation Unit is investigating to determine if there were any other contributing factors.”

This is Vancouver’s 14th motor vehicle fatality of 2021, the Vancouver Police said, adding that anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
